Self Portrait Challenge ~ Introduce Yourself

boho in vanity, canon digital rebel xt

First I want to begin by saying that I will be gone for a week starting Wednesday morning to be with my family in Northern Cali. I am so, so thrilled to be able to spend quality time with my parents, two sisters and nieces and nephews. Although, I noticed today that there is a sadness beneath the anticipation. This will be the longest my husband and I have been apart since we've been married (7 full days).

Since Carsten and I have been trying to get pregnant, we have been nesting all snuggly together like two lil' birdies. Our souls have intertwined into one during this journey, so him not being physically near will feel foreign to me. These feelings of separation anxiety are also foreign to me being that I am typically such an independent person.

It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds and if I will be calling him crying, crouched on the floor of my parents bathroom on their private phone each night. Isn't it cool that they have a phone near the toilet???

I am sure once I feel their arms around me, all these fears will fade.

Anyways...I've been tagged by the gorgeous Sarah of Rustic Relics. I thought it would be fun to combine her Do's & Don'ts request with my Easy Breezy Boho Bits for this weeks Self Portrait Challenge of Introducing myself.

Here goes:

I do like being fit
I don't like being skinny...I love my curves

I do consider myself spiritual
I don't consider myself religious

I do love independent films
I don't like cheesy Hollyweird ones

I do love unique style fashion
I don't like trendy fashion

I do love sand between my toes
I don't like sand in my belly button

I do wear essential oils
I don't wear perfumes

I do love being a gypsy
I don't like staying in one place for too long

I do love acupuncture
I don't like getting shots

I do love Anthropologie
I don't like Nordie's

I do love to eat food
I don't like to eat dessert

I do love rain and cloudy skies
I don't like sunshine overload

I do love Bluegrass
I don't like Country

I do love skirts
I don't like shorts

I do love hats & scarves
I don't like wallets and purses

I do love my bloggie sister/brotherhood
I don't like that we are all so far from one another

I do love my husband like mad
I don't like being away from him for 7 days.

I am tagging Moonlighting Artist, Ink on my Fingers, Drowning in Ink, The Silent K & Twisted Soda.

I'll miss all of you! I'll try to check in to read your bloggies but I won't be posting while I am away.

Love love love.

hey sweets,

i felt the same way when i left chris to be with my goddess sisters in melbourne last month for 6 days... it was the longest time in five years that we had been physically apart.

i had the same feelings of seperation anxiety thinking about it... but it all unfurled so beautifully... i called him once every couple of days to gossip, but otherwise i was totally cool. it was actually really GOOD to be just *leonie*, independent wonderwomyn LEONIE for a while. i love being a lover and with my lover... but it was good to explore the other parts of me too.

and like you have your skinsisters to hold you tight, i had spiritsisters to wrap me in hugs when the tears came softly.

love you
sweetest of travels my dear friend

how i love this image of you two snuggly like birdies in a nest. so cute.
it is so hard to be away when you are used to that person with you every single day. i hope you have a wonderful time with your family. (one little silly thought...when i was away from jon for a week earlier in our relationship, i kept a little journal in the form of letters to him. i pasted things from my trip inside and wrote about the things i did...and how i missed him etc. it was so much fun...and he treasures it still.)

i will miss you my dear sweet friend...

Darling-

soak in the sweetness of your loving family- I am sad Carsten can't go too. Like you said, once you are there you will be surrounded by so much sweetness that it will probably be ok. I do understand the connection and interdependence that forms when working together to create life. It is beautiful and strong.

I will miss you

I love the picture as always~ gorgeous you~ and the list was so fun to read.

Hugs love and kisses

Found you through Thea's blog and see that we have many bloggies in common! Being a SoCal/NoCal transplanted to the East, I love reading your blog which reminds me of home! Thank you for linking the rainbow sandals.....growing up in Manhattan Beach, I had flip flops of the rainbow nature ~ gorgeous red, orange, yellow wedges that always reminded me of sunsets. I've thought a lot about those flippy's and there are many knock-offs, not the real deal. Happy to say, that 2 pair are now on their way!! Have fun up North!!

What a lovely post. My favorite? "I don't like being skinny... I love my curves"... if we could all feel that way how much happier we'd be.

Have a safe and happy trip! If you have time write Carsten a letter for him to open every day of the week.... it takes time but it's always fun to send a little love out there. :)

Cherish these times with you and your sweet relationship with your husband, because once you have those delicious children (as I'm sure you're meant to because you seem like such a nurturing person), your relationship changes little bit by little bit. I have three little ones, and we just left for a weekend away for our anniversary and it was like the old days--like two li'l birdies. I miss that closeness, and it's hard to keep it so tight when the tiny people come into your lives--they take a lot of time and energy.

Hope you don't mind me sneaking in on your bloggie sisterhood and commenting, but you guys have a good thing going here! I like you!

Great list. I always love your mentions of Anthropologie, my favorite of all stores, and also the place that torments me the most as a) I can't afford their clothes and b) I hardly ever have occasions to look that nice. Sigh, but I DO get lovely tablecloths there, and a few of my favorite pairs of pants. So. And I must speak up for the fun of cheesy movies, and admit to going to the cheesy gymnastics movie tomorrow! yay! (ps - just finished season I of Battlestar Galactica. Wow! Season 2 arrives tomorrw!)

It's funny how things and timing work together.
I had actually planned a trip to Arroyo Grande for this next week and it did not come to pass.
I love the favor you and your hubby find together.
AND thank you for all the lovely complements.
I purchased the frilly scarf I was wearing at Anthrpologie...everyone's fav.
Have a really fun trip.
We'll chat soon.

I am in loooove with Anthropologie. I go to college near Philly, and they have a huge store there full of wonderfulness. But I must say that sometimes Nordie's makeup and shoes can really do it for me (I can't help it, my big sis used to work there and I'm genetically programmed to enjoy what she enjoys). I'm sad that you're leaving just as I'm getting into your blog, but it will give me time to catch up :) Enjoy your time with family. After not seeing mine for 8 months (I'm in Europe), I'm excited to get home myself.

Have a great time with your sister - I'm in the majority that I'll be missing your posts!
And you'll have to explain this North Cal/South Cal divide to me, sometime. As a Brit, I had no idea there even was a divide!

I read this line: "Our souls have intertwined into one during this journey..." and it brought tears to my eyes.

Why? Because the whole journey of getting pregnant (I know from experience) can be so fraught with anxiety (ditto), the fact that you and your husband are 'intertwining your souls', well... that is a BLESSING.

Sweet. Enjoy this time together as you walk this part of the journey. Preparing for a baby is a sacred time. It's a really special passage.

I love your self-portrait. It's just so charming. It makes me want to hug you or something.
