I heart kitties

amber, canon digital rebel xt

Tonight while working on a project at my computer, Amber propped herself up on my desk facing the screen. I watched her eyes follow my mouse arrow with such intensity. She then started batting her tiny white paws at it as though it was a bug. When she was a kitten, she used to do this to the television screen when my husband was watching hockey. She thought the puck was a bug and she would run and jump at it as it traveled back and forth between teams.

Then I stumbled onto this adorable video.

Sometimes when I am feeling down, my husband will say..."I wish I could bring you a convertible Volkswagen Cabriolet full of kittens."

I always giggle at that but in all truth...it would be a dream.

I just wanted to say welcome home--I loved this post about your cat, so sweet...and the poem yesterday, and the images from your nurturing and beautiful trip! The image of you meditating by the water was so incredibly lovely...I have never been out to Cali yet--but, I know those redwoods are waiting for me! Thank you for the pictures of them, in the meantime.

Oh, I wish I could airmail you the adorable stray kittens in my neighbors garage! I want to adopt them but our dogs are not, um, cat-friendly. To an extreme. Seeing that video made want to go scoop them up and cuddle them but I try to strongly discourage any cat trespassing into monster-dog-territory. Our neighbor feeds the strays but won't get them fixed. It maked for a lot of cats, and in truth I love to look out the window and see a constant cat parade, but it can get a bit stinky!

OH! I love cats too. You know what? I think this post was fated for me. My sweet Chayli died last year June 20---kidney failure from diabetes diag. in 1999---so she lived a long time despite her disease... I said I wouldn't get another one after she died, for alot of reasons. But my son, who's 3, often asks for her (we say she is an angel in heaven) and has said he wants a cat... I bought myself a small cat statue that looked like her (no coloring, just an iron one) that I intended to put in the garden on the anniversary this week... but when I took it out of the box I couldn't part with it and now it sits on my nightstand. So I am seeing it alot and it's making me think... how I miss that warm fur, the purrs, the kitty antics... I have a dog. He loved Chayli too. I think he's cat-friendly (???)

I think this post today has helped me decide. I need a kitty in my life again.

I love kitties too. I have three, one drives me a little insane with all his yowling but I still love them.

A car full of kittens would cheer me up too.

Hugs and kisses

Too cute!! I love kitties too, they are so much fun! The video was too sweet. Cats just know when you need something, don't they? They sit on your lap as a way to give you a hug, I think!

Your husband is sweet.

I share your kitty need...I stopped at 8 but my heart still has room for more for sure. I don't know what I would do without their loving gaze and honest simplicity ya know. Sorry for your sadness. I empathize. The spirit is happy for those expecting but the heart starts to run on empty after a while...
