Self Portrait Challenge

boho blowing a kiss

This month's theme for SPT is "Self Portrait As..."

I am beginning with Self Portrait as... a Woman. I've always felt that blowing kisses was uber-feminine, so here I am blowing kisses to all of the women in my bloggie tribe.

Below you will find a recorded excerpt from one of my favorite books, Imagine a Woman in Love with Herself by Patricia Lynn Reilly. A friend of mine introduced this book to me at a time in my life when I thought I had lost myself and felt as though a rediscovery was so out of reach. This book helped me to dig down deep and discern that I was there all along and didn't have far to look. I learned the importance of truly loving myself. Me...not the person other's wanted me to be but just simply the core of who I am.

So sit back in a comfortable chair and close your eyes. It is a wee bit long but well worth it. My wish is that parts of it resonate with your heart as they did mine.

Imagine a Woman in Love With Herself, voice by boho
This is perhaps one of my least creative self portraits but this post is more about the words than the picture. I am sometimes self conscious of my voice because it is very soft. So the challenge here for me is speaking it out to the world. Thank you for listening.

Imagine a woman, who is the big sister, unconditionally loving another woman, who is the little sister.

Imagine us....

That was a really beautiful post, and I enjoyed so much listening to you read that passage. It's so interesting to listen to all of those "imagine's" and think on some "hey, I DO/AM that" and others think "ohh..need work on that one." It made me smile. Thought provoking.

"Imagine a woman in love with her own body. A woman who believes her body is enough, just as it is. Who celebrates her body's rhythms and cycles as an exquisite resource."

That's what I'm striving for, that's my goal as woman. It's such a difficult thing for me to do, to accept and honor and love this body that I've been given. I so much want to be that woman!

And your voice, oh my, your voice. Beautiful, soft, & so completely tenderhearted - like a lullaby. I am so happy and honored to know you.

And I totally saved your photo. It's gorgeous. Your lips are amazing!

Kisses XOXO

I am getting pretty excited about this portrait Challenge and I would like to put the button on my page as a reminder, but I can't get it to work. Any advice. Yes I am using blogger and yes I am learning this sucks, but I am sure other people are out there too. I keep getting the little ?

Anyway, hope to have a self-pic up soon, my brain is stewing on what to do.

This post was beautiful...your picture, your words, your voice, your heart. I listened to this several times, and it moved me to tears. It was exactly what I needed to read today, and something I plan to save to listen to, for those moments when I need a reminder. Thank you, as always, for challenging and encouraging me as I discover my own role as woman...it is a blessing to have other women like you around as part of the journey.

You inspire me!

WOW. that passage spoke straight to my heart - YOU spoke straight to my heart, my love. I am going to buy this book today. there is so much in it, oh my goodness, i can tell already. wonderful

and i don't know why you are self conscious of your voice, love, it is so beautiful, so gentle, so feminine (and that is what Reilly is talking about).. a healing voice, one that lulls us and make us feel loved. of course, i especially love your voice when it is giggling in my ear as we talk on the phone ... tee hee :-)

Your voice is lovely, so childlike with such an innocent to it. It is interesting to hear the voice of a blogger. I think the sound of someone's voice tells more about a person than a photo can, sometimes.
