fun in the sun

surf's up, canon digital rebel xt

Yes. This is Southern California in December. The sun out, the surf up and bikini clad gals laying on the beach. I cannot believe just last week we were practically snowed in on Vancouver Island.

Fast walking on the beach is one of the most fun forms of exercise for me. Today, as the waves crashed loud off the shore, I worked my boho booty to the sounds of Jack Johnson on my iPod. His music is perfect for the beach, well...because he's a beachy sort of guy. His song "bubble toes" had me smiling ear to ear and filled me with a cool sense of energy and fun.

I've always been someone who thrives more when I am having fun. I was talking with a gorgeous superhero today about how important the message of fun can bring to one's business and the path it is taking. If I am having fun doing a particular task, then I should go with it because it is my body, mind and soul in harmony with what I am doing. One thing that I have been having a blast with is the photography aspect of my business. I have two portrait sessions coming up and I am having so much fun preparing for it. I am so thankful that I can tune in to what I am supposed to focus on while working. Since I am my own boss (yes, i guess that means i am the boss of me), this will help me with direction since there is no one else to do that for me.

So, after having fun in the sun...it is now time to have fun in the studio (wearing wintery clothes in place of bikini.).

ocean beach :(
pacific beach :(
la jolla coastline :(

it's in my bones, and my bones sing of ocean and sunshine, but sometimes they want to go home....

i love that a beach goddess such as you is there full-time.

I stumbled across your blog last weekend while vistining Sunday Scribbling.

I love your photography, your art, your writings!! It's so inspirational!

I can't seem to open up your online boutique. :(
AND for some reason this won't let me post under my Blogger display name, Karen Travels, so I will try it anonymously...

Hello Karen,
Thank you so much for you kind words and I am glad you found me through Sunday Scribblings!

If you are having issues with my online boutique, is there a chance you are on dial-up? My website has a lot of Flash, so that could be why.

Email me if you'd like at boho(at)bohemiangirldesigns(dot)com.

Blessings,
Boho

We've had sunny weather up north too, frosty mornings and perfect afternoons. I'm so spoiled and I like it. I'm the boss of me too, and enjoying what you do is the only true motivator...well, that and a steady income.

That looks like where I live! The Atlantic this time of year is really serene.
I love being my own boss as well, but I can get pretty lazy sometimes- that's when the OTHER boss helps me with a little motivation!
So glad you are feeling more upbeat and good luck with your upcoming shoots!
Again, I am so happy to have found you!

OMG, that photo is so beautiful and looks sooooo warm. I know it's supposed to be cold and frosty in December in Kentucky, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. (envy-tinged sigh....)

do you have ANY idea how envious i am of you right now??? I sooo miss the beach. i have tried and tried and tried to convince the hubby that we should live by the sea. He even had a job opportunity in san Diego once, another time he had a job secured in Costa Rica... And of course, always at the last moment he decided that we should stay here in boring Arizona. BOOOOOO!

Have i ever told you how I *almost* met Jack Johnson? I *almost* met him about 4 times in a period of 3 days. He is surfing buddies with my Uncle and he lives right near my Aunt and Uncle on North Shore Oahu... I was going to sing with him around a bon fire on the beach... *sigh* It is a super long story so I won't type it all here... but I might have to tell it to you one day, its a good one. :)

xoxo

Booty shakin (hee hee) I'm right there with ya honey buns (pun)

I am knitting a scarf and have it wrapped around my neck as I go...(visualize that!) It is FREEZing here and a storm is on it's way.

I know you are a sun puppy, but I also know that you like to wear coats, scarves and hats...so I can assume the sunny days could disappear now and then, and you'd be a bundle baby with a big smile too :)

love you sissy,
XXXOOO dar

Boho,
Your blog is so nice. You are able to show exactly what you feel with your words. A little bit more and I would be able to hear the same music you were walking fast in the beach. (Just kidding)
Regards.
