who i hang out with most days...

elvis & amber having a chat , canon digital rebel xti

When I lived in Northern California, on most evenings, I would go on this long walk up and down the steep hills to my neighborhood. Each time I would pass this corner house where out on the front wrap around porch were about 10 kitty tree houses made out of carpet. All different kinds. The cats from all around the hood would gather on said porch and leap, chase, climb and lounge on these carpeted kitty brothels...including the dozen or so cats/kittens that lived in their home. These feline lovers had a huge front window and inside would be all these kitties perched, watching people like me who would stop in wonder.

I am sure most would roll their eyes and keep walking but cat people like me considered it total and complete bliss. I wanted to lay down on their grass and let all the kitties crawl all around me. That corner house filled me with so much joy that I made a point to visit it as much as possible.

I will so be that cat lady in my old age.

What brings you joy around your neighborhood?

ps. Totally off topic: I started reading Twilightand I must admit...it had me at Edward's eyes changing color. I'm hooked...thanks to bloggers all over gushing about it. I've been needing a good escape novel or two or three. ; )

Joy, in my neighbourhood, is being surrounded by people from all different cultures and backgrounds. A colourful mixture of languages being thrown about, all shades of skin, and friendly warm smiles.
Watching all of their kids break down the language barrier and speak kid talk.
I can't wait to raise a child in such a world...

oh my gosh, i love that story, love that photo of your two kitties, and love your little caption about them having a chat! so, so cute.

what brings me joy around my neighborhood are all the trees that have this soft, light green moss hanging down all over the place . . . it's very romantic when the long strands blow slowly in the breeze . . . especially when the sun is shining through them at the long afternoon and the water on the beautiful lake right beside the trees is glistening with shining sun dancing.

ha, Georgia is unabashedly obsessed. (I am too. I love Edward. I was hooked from his eyes changing color, too.)

There are horses everywhere in my nieghborhood. I see them outside my windows and walking down the street with people on them. It's pretty cool. One day I looked in my back yard and my nieghbor's llama's had escaped and they were eating my trees and grass! When Candice came to visit last summer, she got out of the car and said, "wow, you live in the country!" I love that.

Your last post made me laugh out loud. I can't wait to hear about when you find out that you're preggers...

What I love in our village... (which is as big as a neighborhood :-)

1. that you have to stop for the people being transported on their horses
2. that the horse carriage stop at the pub in the middle of our village, and he sits and wait for the owner to bring him his beer, which he drinks in 5 sips... then he smiles... talk to his horses and continue his journey.
3. the thousands of trees.... raising so high you have to stop and look up...
4. the pitch black darkness at night... cause we don't have any street lights
5. if the wind blow from a certain direction, the smell of farm... it takes me back to my dreams of sitting in a big old oak tree with my journal, watching all the commotion on the farm down below me... xx

Love the kitties! I have three right now, I'd love another but at this point I think I'm pretty fortunate to have the ones I have. They are pretty funny to watch, each having there own different personalities.

A really good book suggestion... Read 'Stargirl" by Jerry Spinelli.. It's a young adult book actually... It's about following the beat of your own drum... no matter what! I hope you look into it!! :)

The wildlife, the changes in seasons, beautiful blossoms, the wave from a neighbor and so much more. I've really grown to love my little neighborhood here in VA as I put in my time running by their houses. When baby bunnies, chipmunks and birds all flutter or run by me- my heart smiles.

Oh, I loved Twilight too- I'm reading Friday Night Knitting Club before I snooze at night- it's a good read so far. Enjoy Edward's eyes- he's a charmer. :)

i love this photo denise ~ and i KNOW they are indeed chatting!

lately i have been taken with all the wildlife that has been popping up in our neighborhood lately. we do live in alaska, so wildlife sightings are pretty commonplace, but there seems to be an abundance lately. a darling little fox came round the other day...the yard is filled with rabbits daily...moose are always nearby, and bears, well, i know they are there but i am glad i havn't seen any of those up close!

ps ~ i finally opened my etsy shop...you were a tremendous inspiration, thank you ;-)

Cute cats! What i enjoy most around my neighborhood is over looking a golf course that has a creek which feeds this big willow tree.

Ah – Twilight, it’s my favorite of the three! The second in my opinion is only ok, filled with too much teenage angst for me but the third gets good again.
